현대종교에 많은 선교사들의 자료 요청이 들어오고 있다. 해외에서 사용할 수 있는영어로 번역된 이단 자료가 필요하다는 것이다. 그래서 현대종교는 매월 한 단체씩이단단체에 대한 정보를 영어로 번역해 게재하고자 한다. [편집자 주]

The “Salvation Sect” composes of and collectivelyincludes ‘Evangelical Baptist Church ofKorea’(founded by Shin Chan Kwon and ByungEon Yu) New Word Mission(founded by JohanLee) and Good News Mission Church(foundedby Ok Soo Park). The Salvation Sect’s officialname includes the word “Baptist” and thiscauses serious problems to the Korea Baptist Convention, the existing denomination of traditional church. What is the Salvation Sectdesignated as a heresy by various denominationsof traditional churches?

구원파는 일반적으로 기독교복음침례회(설립자 권신찬, 유병언), 생명의말씀선교회(설립자 이요한, 대한예수교침례회),기쁜소식선교회(설립자 박옥수)를 말한다. 구원파는 침례교를 표방한 명칭 때문에 기성 교단인 “기독교한국침례회”에 큰 피해를 주고 있다. 여러 교단에서 이단으로 결의하는 세 구원파의 특징은 무엇일까?

1. Evangelical Baptist Church of Korea(Established by Shin Chan Kwon and Byung Eon Yu)
1. 기독교복음침례회(설립자 권신찬, 유병언)

Mr. Shin Chan Kwon was born on January 13th, 1923, at the place of which address is 934 Wonhwang-ril, Byeonggok-myeon,Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Republicof Korea. On November 30th, 1951,he was ordained as a minister and hadworked as a pastor for twelve (12) years fromhis ordinance. On December 21st, 1961,Gyeongbuk Presbytery dismissed Mr. Kwonfor heresy suspicion.

권신찬씨는 1923년 1월 13일,경북 영덕군 병곡면 원황리9 34번지에 태어났다. 1951년11월 30일 목사 안수를 받고 1962년 12월 21일 경북노회로부터 이단으로 목사 면직처분을 받기까지 12년간 주로 경북지방에서 목회를 했다.

In November 2916, the Evangelical Baptist Church of Korea (hereinafter referred to as “EBCK”) was founded by (1) Mr. Shin ChanKwon who was influenced by Case Glass, aDutch missionary, and who insisted that “Irealize the forgiveness of sin” and (2) Mr.Byung Eon Yu (Mr. Know’s son in law) who was influenced by Dick York, an American independent missionary, and who insistedthat “I realize the gospel”.

권씨의 기독교복음침례회는1961년 11월 네덜란드 선교사 케이스 글라스의 영향으로 “죄사함을 깨달았다”는 권신찬과, 미국인 독립선교사 딕 욕(DickYork)의 영향으로 “복음을 깨달았다”는 그의 사위 유병언에 의해 시작됐다.

Mr. Kwon worked as a pastor until December 30th, 1962, but he moved his workplace to Evangelism Broadcasting Company (Present “Far East Broadcasting Company”), and worked as a manager of missionary department,since he was dismissed as a pastor bythe Gyeongbuk Presbytery. However, Mr.Kwon attempted to occupy the Far East Broadcasting Company (hereinafter referredto as “FEBC”) by appointing Mr. Byung EonYu, hi son in law as a Vice Chairman andemploying his followers as senior managers,but his plan to occupy and control the FEBC failed. After failure of control plan, Mr.Kwon was dismissed by the FEBC on September 10th, 1974. After his dismissal fromthe FEBC, Mr. Kwon secretly started ‘a roomchurch’, a concept of small sized churchesand established ‘Korea Laymen EvangelicalFellowship’ at Samgakji, Seoul and made itsentrance to the society as an opposer of existingchurch presbyteries.

1962년 12월 30일 독립교회에서 시무하다가 1966년 2월 10일 경기도 인천에 있던 복음주의 방송국(현 극동방송국)의 전도과장으로 일했다. 이후 권씨는 사위 유병언씨를 부국장에 앉히고 구원파 신도들로 간부직을 맡기는 등 극동방송국을 점거하려 했으나 실패하게되고, 1974년 9월 10일 극동방송국 측으로부터 파면 당했다. 파면 이후 권씨는 은밀하게 소위 ‘방교회’라 불렸던 것을 표면화해 “한국평신도선교회”라 하여 서울 삼각지를 중심으로 기성교단에 노골적인 대적자로 등장한다.

Mr. Byung Eon Yu, Mr. Kwon’s son in law,was dismissed by the FEBC, as well. After his dismissal, Mr. Yu took over a trading companywhich was just about bankrupt, andtook office of CEO of Sam Woo Trading Co.,Ltd., and engaged in transactions with companieslocated in America and Germany. Based on this business expansion, Mr.Kwon’s influence increased. At that time, Mr.Yu put forth a slogan that “business ischurch”.

유병언씨는 방송국에서 쫓겨난 후에 넘어져 가는 무역회사를 인수하여 삼우트레이딩 사장에 취임했다. 그리고 이 시기에 무역거래를 이유로 미국, 독일을 왕래하면서 교세를 확장시켰다. 이즘 유씨는 “기업이 곧 교회”라는 논리를 펴게 된다.

EBCK spreads its doctrines via the “GreenClub”, an organization of environment protection,and “Missionary Rally”. Also, it runs“Green Clubs” which disguises as a normalenvironment club or a common university club for the young adults and university students.Also, Missionary Rally is held in variousplaces. In the Missionary Rally,instructors and lecturers start the Rally withlectures of scientific parts of life and bible,and then give lectures related to Israel’s history,sins and forgiveness of sins, based on EBCK’s doctrines. Recently in the EBCK’sweekend rally, deceased Mr. Yu’s sermonswere being played.

기독교복음침례회는 환경단체 “한국녹색회”와 “전도 집회”를 통해 포교하고 있다. 청년 대학생 활동 중 “녹색회 활동”이라는 이름으로 주말마다 활동하고 있으며, 대학 동아리나 순수한 환경단체로 가장해 사람들을 끌어들이고 있다. 또 여러곳에서 전도집회를 통해 포교하고 있다. 이들의 전도집회 순서는 먼저 인생과 성경의 과학적인 부분을 주제로 다루고 이스라엘 역사, 인생의 죄와 그 죄를 해결하기 위한 복음에 대한 내용을 다루고 있다. 최근 주일집회는 사망한 유병언의 설교 영상을 시청하고 있다.

On April 16th, 2014, Sewolho, a ship operatedby Cheonghaejin Shipping Co., Ltd.,sank to the bottom of the sea. Mr. Byung Eon Yu and his family were revealed as thepractical owners of the Cheonghaejin ShippingCo., Ltd., and Mr. Byung Eon Yu’s body was found on June 12th, 2014.

2014년 4월 16일 청해진해운에서 운항하는 세월호가 침몰했다. 청해진해운의 실질적인 소유주가 유병언씨 일가라는 점이 드러나면서 문제가 불거졌고, 6월 12일 유병언씨의 변사체가 발견됐다.

2. LIFE WORD MISSION(foundedby Johan Lee)
2. 생명의말씀선교회(설립자이요한, 대한예수교침례회)

The only theological education which Mr.Johan Lee(Real Name: Bok Chil Lee), thefounder of the Life Word Mission (hereinafterreferred to as “LWM”), has had was a short guidance given by Mr. Shin Chan Kwon(thefounder of the EBCK) at a temporary seminaryheld in Daegu, during the time of the Korean War. In the middle of 1960s, Mr. Lee worked with Mr. Kwon at Mokpo and he wasordained as a minister by Mr. Kwon

이요한(본명 이복칠)씨는 중학교 졸업 후 한국전쟁 기간 중대구 임시 신학교에서 기독교복음침례회의 설립자 권신찬씨에게 잠시 지도 받은 것이 교육배경의 전부인 것으로 알려지고 있다. 구원파 초창기인 1960년 대 중반부터 목포에서 권씨와 함께 활동하다 1971년 권씨에게 목사안수를 받았다.

Mr. Lee criticizes the traditional churchesand insists his own doctrine of eschatology which has the exact date of final judgement.In 1983, Mr. Lee criticized Mr. Byung Eon Yu who argued that the “Business is church.”and officially made pronouncement that the“Business shall be separated from the Church”. According to his pronouncement onthe church and faith, his church was separated from the Mr. Yu’s Church as a a sectof “Gospel Protection” and Mr. Lee foundedSeoul Church, the “LWM” in Bangbae -dong,Seocho-gu, Seoul. In 1994, LWM acquired0.33 ha sized site located at Indeogwon,Anyang, Gyeonggi-do and established new church building, and named it as “SeoulCentral Church”.

기성교회를 비판하고 시한부종말론 등을 내세운 이씨는 1983년 교회 헌금을 사업에 전용하는 것을 문제 삼아 “유병언의 사업이 천국 일”이라고 주장하는 유씨를 비판하면서 “교회와 사업은 분리돼야 한다”는 성명을 내고 “복음수호파”로 분리해 서울 서초구 방배동에 “대한예수교침례회”를 설립했다. 서울교회로 활동하다 1994년 경기도 안양 인덕원의 1천여 평 대지에 교회를 신축하고 서울중앙교회로 개칭했다.

LWM discloses Mr. Lee’s semons, shedule,domestic and foreign news (related to the LWM) and seminar schedule, via its officialwebsite. Anybody who visits the website may download sermon videos and mp3 files uploadedin this website. LWM operates its ownpublishing company, “the life of light publishingcompany” which publishes brochuresand books for spreading Mr. Lee’s doctrines. Also, LWM regularly holds “Bible Seminars”and “Faith Consulting” for same purpose.

생명의말씀선교회는 홈페이지를 통해 이요한씨 측의 국내외교회 소식과 성경강연회 일정을 공개하고 있으며, 설교 동영상과 MP3 파일을 제공하고 있어 사이트를 방문한 사람은 누구나 설교를 들을 수 있도록 하고 있다. 출판사 “영생의말씀사”에서 이요한씨 측의 전도용 소책자와 신앙서적을 발행하고 있으며, “신앙상담”, “성경강연회” 등을 열어 자신의 교리를 설명, 포교하고 있다.

3. Good News Mission Church(founded by Ok Soo Park)
3. 기쁜소식선교회(설립자 박옥수)

Mr. Ok Soo Park was born in June 1944 at Seonsangun, Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk, inKorea. The turning point for Mr. Park wasthe seminar given by Case Glass, a DutchMissionary, and Mr. Park was truly touched.by this seminar. In June 8th, 1968, Mr. Parkfinished his military service and he startedhis missionary work in Gimcheon, after hearticipated in the Children Tent Congregationat illimdong.

박옥수씨는 경북 경산 선산군에서 1944년 6월 출생했다. 네덜란드 선교사 케이스 글라스(Case Glass)의 집회에서 크게 감화 받은 박씨는 1968년 6월 8일 전역 후 신림동 어린이 천막집회 후 김천에 가서 전도하기 시작했다.

Mr. Park became a person in charge of operationof the missionary school which wasrun by the foreign missionaries who wentback to their hometowns. Mr. Park started to expose his tendency to become Salvation Sect when he took the charge of the school. In 1990s, Mr. Park worked in Hanbat Central Church, Daejeon. And he moved to GoodNews Gangnam Church located at Yangjaedong,Seoul, in 2004.

이후 선교사들이 본국으로 돌아가면서 박씨가 선교학교를 이어받게 되고 이때부터 박옥수 구원파는 본격적으로 시작됐다. 1990년 대전 한밭중앙교회를 중심으로 활동하던 박씨는 2004년 서울 양재동에 위치한 기쁜소식강남교회로 옮겼다.

Mr. Park has argued that he was ordained asa minister by Mr. Dick York, a missionary ofthe “Shield of Faith Mission”, but Mr. DickYork who is negative about the system ofminister ordainment officially stated that the Mr. Park was ordained as minister by himself.

박씨는 “믿음의 방패 선교회”의 딕 욕 선교사에게 목사 안수를 받았다고 주장하지만, ‘목사’라는 직위 자체에 대해 부정적인 딕 욕 선교사는 박씨가 스스로 목사 안수를 준 것이라고 밝혔다.

Moreover, Mr. Park strongly advertised thegreen-tea powder named as “Ddobyul” as acure for cancer and AIDS during his sermon,and he was criminally fined KRW 5,000,000 for violation of Food Hygiene Regulations. Also, one of his followers died since he gaveup any medical supports and took only “Ddobyul”.

박옥수씨는 ‘또별’이라는 녹차분말가루를 암과 에이즈에 효능이 좋은 것처럼 설교했다가 500만 원의 벌금에 처하기도했으며, 박씨의 설교를 믿은 신도가 병원과 약을 포기하고 또별을 복용해 사망하기도 했다.

The Good News Mission Church(hereinafter referred to as “GNMC”) spreads Mr. Park’ssermons and doctrines by holding Summerand Winter Spiritual Conference and Studentcamps. Also, GNMC publishes a weekly freenewspaper [the Good News]. Recently, itmonthly publishes a magazine called as [Tomorrow]which disguises as a magazine forteenagers.

기쁜소식선교회는 여름과 겨울수양회 및 학생캠프를 통해 박옥수씨의 설교를 전파하고있다. 주간 「기쁜소식」을 신문형태로 발행해 무료배포하고있고, 최근에는 청소년 교양잡지로 가장한 월간 「Tomorrow」를 창간해 청소년들을 포교하고 있다.

GNMC established IYF(International YouthFellowship) in March 2001 and this is a coreorganization of GNMC. This organizationapproaches students who are interested inEnglish and foreign culture by holding English Speaking Contest and by organizing English Groups in universities. Also, GNMC recruits volunteers for Good Newsco Foreign Voluntary Activities from teenagers who areinterested in foreign cultures and invitessuch teenagers to various kinds of cultureevents and Mr. Park’s Bible Seminars.

기쁜소식선교회의 핵심조직인 IYF(International Youth Fellowship)를 2001년 3월 조직, 대학교 내에서 영어말하기대회, 영어동아리 등 학생들이 관심을 가지는 외국어나 문화적 요소로 접근해 포교하고 있다. 또 청소년들의 해외문화에 대한 관심과 흥미를 자극해 굿뉴스코 해외봉사활동 봉사단을 모집하고, 각종 문화공연과 국내외 박옥수 성경세미나를 열어 포교하고 있다.

Recently, Mr. Park published a couple of books titled as “Who are you who is leadingme” “Department store which sells minds”and “Me inside of me, but not me”. He hasbeen building his public image as a mind educationprofessional and holding “Mind Seminars”.

최근 박씨는 『나를 끌고 가는 너는 누구냐』, 『마음을 파는 백화점』, 『내 안에 있는 나 아닌 나』라는 책을 출판, 마인드 교육 전문가란 이미지를 구축해 “마인드강연”이란 이름으로 세미나를 개최하고 있다.

4. Why is the Salvation Sect aheresy?
4. 구원파가 이단인 이유

The Salvation Sect acknowledges the HolyBible as the God’s words, but interprets the Holy Bible at its sole discretion and givesfalse information to its believers. Accordingto this fact, the traditional churches in Koreadecided that the Salvation Sect is a “heresy” and/or a “cult organization”.

구원파는 성경을 하나님 말씀으로 인정하고 있지만 정통 교회와 달리 성경을 자의적으로 해석, 자신들만이 깨달은 진리를 전하고 있어 기성 교단으로부터 “이단”, “이단사이비집단”으로 결의됐다.

The Salvation Sect argues that once a believeris redeemed by his enlightenment, hissalvation will not be canceled by any sincommitted by himself. Thus, there is no needto repent his sins after such salvation, underthe Salvation Sect’s doctrine. Also, the Salvation Sect insists that a person who repents is a sinner, and such sinner willnever be able to be raised to the salvation.This kind of insistence makes the Christiansin the traditional churches confused.

구원파는 “깨달음”을 통해서 구원을 받으며 한 번 구원의 확신을 받으면 어떤 죄를 지어도 구원이 취소되지 않는다고 주장하고 있다. 따라서 구원받은 후에는 회개할 필요가 없다고 말하고 있다. 또 이들은 회개하는 자는 죄가 있다는 증거요, 죄가 있으면 구원의 반열에 들지 못한다고 말해 기성교회 성도들을 혼란케 하고 있다.

In the book titled as “Why is the Salvation Sect a heresy?”, written by Professor Dong Seob Chung, Professor Chung criticizes the Salvation Sect for the reason that “underdoctrines of the Salvation Sect, neither faithnor repentance will be required for the salvationand redemption, but the enlightenment.”Moreover, in his book, quotes that “incase of traditional churches’ Christians,he/she will be a son/daughter of Jesus Christ when he/she repents and meets Jesus Christ. However, he/she is still a sinner whereashe/she is forgiven and a repetitive repentanceis required if he/she does not live by the God’s will.”

정동섭 교수는 그의 저서 『구원파를 왜 이단이라 하는가?』에서 “구원파는 회개와 믿음이 빠진 ‘깨달음’을 통해서 구원을 받는다고 주장한다”며 “이는 역사적인 정통 개신교의 입장과 판이하게 다른 것이다”라고 비판했다. 또 “정통교회에서는 회개하고 예수님을 영접하게 되면 신분이 죄인에서 자녀로 바뀌지만 성품은 여전히 사함받은 죄인이며 하나님 뜻대로 살지 못하는 자녀로서 여전히 반복적인 회개가 필요하다”고 말했다.

Professor Jeong Sik Cha criticized the SalvationSect’s doctrine. In his book, “the SalvationSect’s insistence that repetitiverepentance means unbelief and doubts aboutthe forgiveness, and the Salvation Sect insiststhat such person belongs to the hell”. Such insistence is a conjecture and a silly beliefbased on wrongful interpretation of the Holy Bible, in Hyundai Religion published in November 2008.

차정식 교수는 「현대종교」2008년 11월호에서 “예수를 알고 나서도 회개하는 것이 사죄의 확신이 없는 불신의 증표이고 구원받지 못한 지옥 백성의 증거라는 억설은 그야말로 성경을 잘못 읽어도 한참을 잘못 읽은 유치한 맹신의 발로이다”라고 비판했다.

5. Denial to the Traditionalchurches’ System
5. 기성교회 제도의 부정

The Salvation Sect criticizes traditional churches. In the book titled as [Why is theSalvation Sect a heresy?] written by Professor Dong Seob Chung, Professor Chung wrote that ”the Salvation Sect does not haveany concepts of personal and public worshipservice“ and ”the Salvation Sect teaches thatthe believer’s life itself is the worship service,in other words, the beliver’s acquaintance isa prayer and worship. Thus, the SalvationSect denies the personal and public prayers,worship, and praise. “The Salvation Sect also insists that believersdoes not need to follow the system of traditionalchurch; such as Sunday Worship Service, Dawn Prayer, and tithe which areoutcomes of old commandaments, since the salvation is acquired by enlightment. Accordingto [Research Reports on Cult/Heresy]published by the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Korea, quotes “SundayWorship Service, Dawn Paryer, and titheare the duties of God’s children redeemed andsalvated, not a condition of the salvation. Therefore, there is no reason to throw the seduties away.”

구원파는 기성교회를 부정적으로 보고 있다. 정동섭 교수는 그의 저서 『구원파를 왜 이단이라 하는가?』에서 “구원파는 개인예배 및 공중예배를 드린다는 관념도 없다”며 “예배는 성도의 생활 그 자체, 다시 말해서 성도의 교제가 기도요 예배라고  믿고 가르치기 때문에 개인 및 공중기도, 경배와 찬양을 부정한다”고 말했다. 구원파는 구원받았기 때문에 교회의 제도에 얽매일 필요가 없고 주일성수, 새벽기도, 십일조 등도 율법의 소산이므로 지킬 필요가 없다고 주장하고 있다. 이에 대해 대한예수교장로회총회는 『사이비이단 연구 보고집』에서 “성수주일, 새벽기도, 십일조 등은 구원을 얻기위한 조건이 아니라 구원받은 하나님의 자녀들의 마땅한 의무일 뿐이며, 구원을 받았다고해서 이것들을 모두 버려야 할 이유는 없다”고 주장했다.

Under this doctrine of the Salvation Sect,Christians in traditional churches and newelievers are being directed away from the realsalvation. The Salvation Sect sends their followersto traditional churches located in Koreaand worldwide and seduces believers byspreading false doctrines. This is such a bigrisk to the traditional churches. Therefore,cautious prevention measures are required by the traditional churches in Korea.

구원의 진리를 깨달았다는 구원파의 포교로 기성 교인 및 새롭게 예수를 영접한 이들이 구원으로부터 멀어지고 있다.이들은 전국 각처는 물론 해외현장까지 침투하여 교회를 혼란시키고 성도를 미혹하고 있어 한국교회뿐 아니라 국외 교회까지 위기를 주고 있다. 구원파의 포교활동에 대한 한국교회의 신중한 대처가 요구된다.
